MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2017 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Minnesota Vikings
A sixth-year linebacker, Lamur played on seven defensive snaps and five special teams plays in Minnesota's 38-7 loss at Philadelphia in the NFC Championship. A second-year player for the Vikings after spending his first four seasons in Cincinnati, Lamur has 180 regular-season tackles in his career to go along with a half sack, 12 passes defended and two interceptions.
Terence Newman, CB – Minnesota Vikings
A 15-year NFL veteran in his third season with Minnesota, Lamur started at cornerback and recorded four tackles, including one for loss, in the Vikings' 38-7 defeat in the NFC Championship at Minnesota. The Salina, Kansas, product has played in 221 regular-season games in his career, the 10th most among active NFL players and second most among defensive players. He finished the 2017 regular season with 35 tackles, four pass breakups and a pick this season, and he has 876 career tackles to go along with 2.0 sacks, 172 passes defended and 42 career interceptions, the latter ranking as the second most among active players.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
Sproles, a 13-year veteran, will be on a team that advances to the Super Bowl for the first time in his career as Philadelphia defeated Minnesota, 38-7, in the NFC Championship. Sproles, who was placed on injured reserve in September due to injuries sustained in Week 3, has 19,155 career all-purpose yards to rank first among active players and eighth in NFL history. The Eagles will take on New England in Super Bowl LII on Sunday, February 4, at 5:30 p.m. (CT) inside U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
