
Wildcats Earn NCEA Academic Accolades

WACO, Texas. – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association
(NCEA) announced its 2015-16 Academic Teams, with Kansas State having
13 riders honored.
Senior Nicholle Hatton, juniors Henley Adkins,
Christina Martinelli and Taylor Schmidt as well as sophomores Ashley
Anderson, Paige Kemper and Halle Kutsche all earned First
Team citations. Juniors Sydney Anson, Gretchen Koenen and
Alyssa Lombardi took home Second Team honors alongside sophomore
Molly Dunn, while sophomores Brynn Critcher and Kali Retzler received
Honorable Mention status.
The Wildcats also had 14 riders named to the Honor Roll list. The Honor
Roll list included: senior Hatton, juniors Adkins, Anson,
Natalie Kestle, Koenen, Lombardi, Martinelli and
Schmidt and sophomores Anderson, Amanada Bennett, Dunn, Kemper, Kutsche and Retzler.
To qualify for the NCEA Academic First Team, a rider must have competed in 70 percent of her team’s meets and must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5. To qualify for the NCEA Academic Second Team, a rider must have competed in 60 percent of her team’s meets, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25. To earn NCEA Academic Honorable Mention honors, a rider must have participated in 50 percent of her team’s meets and must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
The NCEA Academic Honor Roll recognizes the top academic student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
