Mental Wellness
K-State Athletics is committed to the promotion of a holistic approach to wellness for its student athletes and staff which is evident by the creation of the Mental Wellness and Sport Psychology Department, directed by Anne Weese, Ph.D. The mental wellness department is primarily focused on providing mental health counseling to K-State student-athletes by delivering one-on-one, confidential psychotherapy. Sport Psychology
Here at K-State, sport psychology is the science of performance excellence. It is about understanding and applying the mind in ways that maximize human potential. The overall goals of sport psychology are to help student-athletes and teams perform at their best, make the most out of their experiences at K-State, and prepare them for lifelong success. Sport psychology takes on a variety of forms with players, coaches and teams that range from brief consultations to longer, more individualized sessions. The sessions are generally instructional, collaborative, and solution-focused. Mental training sessions could include topics such as concentration, confidence, and composure during pressure.
