K-State Wins All Seven Matches Against Memphis in Jayhawk Invitational

Wildcats found success in two doubles and five singles matches
LAWRENCE, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team had a successful second day at the Jayhawk Invitational on Friday (January 16) with five singles and two doubles wins over Memphis at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. The Tigers only had five women available for competition, the Wildcats sweeping all seven matches of the day.
Junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav and freshman Martaa Chogsomjav won a consecutive doubles match as a pair, defeating Emma Dvorackova and Clemence Thouard 6-2. The duo of freshman Sasha Kyselova and sophomore Chanel Rustemova earned their first win, 6-4 over Natalia Koppova and Alicia Mall.
The Chogsomjav sisters kept their winning streaks going in singles play, Martaa sweeping her opponent Koppova at 6-3, 6-3. Maralgoo encountered a three-set match after dropping the second set against Mall. After falling short at 5-7, Maralgoo faced little resistance in the final set for a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 win.
Rustemova faced Frant, almost leaving her scoreless at 6-0, 6-1, a consecutive singles win for the Cat as well.
The two remaining matches went into three sets as Kyselova battled back and forced a third set tiebreaker. Competing against Dvorackova, after a 6-4 score in Kyselova's favor she continued to fight in the last set to take the upper hand at 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Freshman Diana Smolinska forced a final set against Thouard with a high scoring 7-5 second set before securing the win at 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.
K-State will wrap up the third day of competition on Saturday (January 17) against Kansas with matches starting at 1 p.m.
