The Wildcats last finished runner-up in both races in 2020
STILLWATER, Okla. – The K-State men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the regular season on Saturday (October 17) in the Weis-Crockett Invitational with second place team finishes at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course hosted by Oklahoma State.
In a small field of less than five teams, the men and women both recorded runner-up finishes, the men with 56 points in the 8k and the women in the 6k race with 53 points. The ranked OSU teams won both races, the #2 Cowboys finished with 20 points, the #8 Cowgirls with 19 points.
The last time both Cats squads finished in second place was September 19, 2020, during the Bob Timmons Classic as the men recorded 40 points in the 6k and the women had 60 points in the 5k.

Sophomore Max Larson led the K-State men for a third consecutive meet, this time with an 8th place time of 24:43.1. Juniors Jackson Esquibel and Brock Olsen finished within 20 seconds of Larson, Esquibel with a 10th place performance under 25 minutes at 24:54.7 and Olsen in 25:03.6 in 12th place.
Two more sophomores finished in the top-15, Dylan Plath (14th; 25:21.0) and Logan Beckman (15th; 25:24.1).
During the women's race, freshman Joyce Kiptabut crossed the finish line in 6th place to lead the team with a time of 21:53.9. Sophomore Payton Fink also placed in the top-10, finishing 9th at 22:09.3, with junior Christine Jerono just 10 seconds behind in 11th place in 22:19.9.
