LA QUINTA, Calif. – Sustained wind gusts over 30 miles per hour at the Greg Norman Course of PGA WEST on Wednesday caused the cancellation of the final round of The Prestige, making the 36-hole results final as the Kansas State men's golf team finished in 17th place at 23-over par 591.
Senior Alex Lindstrom led the way for the Wildcats as he tied for 41st place at 4-over par 146. Freshmen Oliver Toyer and Ville Virkkala were next by tying for 55th place and 62nd place, respectively. Toyer recorded a 36-hole score of 6-over par 148, and Virkkala was one shot back. Senior JP Roller and sophomore Fionn Dobbin tied for 86th place at 10-over par 152.
Despite the cancellation of the team event, the separate Prestige Individual tournament held at the par-72 Golf Club at Terra Lago was able to complete a third round on Wednesday. Senior transfer Shea Harmeson carded a 4-over par 76 during the final round to stay in ninth place with a 54-hole score of 8-over par 224. Another senior, Ben Stoller, improved one spot on Wednesday to finish in 26th place at 16-over par 232.
Next action for the Wildcats comes March 1-2 when they take part in the Colleton River Collegiate held at the Pete Dye Course of Colleton River Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
