K-State in 14th After Two Rounds in South Carolina

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Kansas State men's golf team has work to do in the final round of the Colleton River Collegiate, as the Wildcats posted a two-round total of 10-over par 586 on Monday at the par-72, 7,403-yard Pete Dye Course of the Colleton River Plantation Club.
K-State is in 14th place, one shot behind 13th-place Indiana following rounds of 7-over par 295 in the morning and 3-over par 291 in the afternoon.
The Wildcats' scoring lineup on Sunday was led by freshman Ville Virkkala, who is tied for 24th place at even-par 144. The Espoo, Finland, native began the event with a round of 1-under par 71 with four birdies in the morning before a second 18 of 1-over par 73.
Virkkala is tied with senior Shea Harmeson, who is playing as an individual and coupled a score of 3-over par 75 in the morning with a round of 3-under par 69 in the afternoon. Starting on No. 10, Harmeson's second-round performance featured five birdies over the first 9 holes, while he also carded an eagle on the par-5 2nd.
Another senior, JP Roller, is tied for 50th place at 4-over par 148. The Jenks, Oklahoma, native couldn't keep the momentum of an even-par first round, one that he matched four birdies with four bogeys.
Senior Alex Lindstrom and sophomore Fionn Dobbin are one shot back of Roller and tied for 61st place at 5-over par 149, the latter of whom was able to rebound from a 6-over par first round by going 1-under par 71 in the afternoon. Beginning on No. 9, the Lisburn, Northern Ireland, native was 2-over par through 10 holes, but he went bogey free and 3-under par the rest of the way to net his fourth under-par round of the season.
Freshman Oliver Toyer enters Monday's final round in a tie for 68th place at 6-over par 150.
No. 50 Kentucky holds a slim one-shot lead over Ohio State at 12-under par 564. Kentucky's Jack Schoenberger and Iowa's Ryan Shellberg are atop the individual leaderboard at 7-under par 137.
