Wildcats Prepped for Final Home Stand Against BYU and Utah

This is the first meeting against the two teams in Manhattan
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team is ready for the last home stand of the spring season with two Big 12 teams, on Thursday (April 3) against BYU and Saturday (April 5) versus Utah at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium.

#62 K-State (7-9, 4-5 Big 12) will face the #55 BYU Cougars (16-6, 6-3 Big 12) for just the second time, on Thursday at 4 p.m., CT. Last season the two teams met for the first time in Provo, Utah, where the Cats fell 1-4.

This will be the first ever meeting against the Utah Utes (7-11, 2-7 Big 12) on Saturday at 12 p.m., CT. It is the third and final meeting with a new conference member in the 2024-25 regular season. The match is also dedicated as Senior Day for Veronika Kulhava and Sana Garakani.

Kulhava has been a Wildcat the last two seasons, coming to Manhattan prior to the 2023-24 season. She has gone 30-20 in singles matches, including a 16-7 record this year. She has gone 28-27 in doubles matches, most notably with Tereza Polakova and Maria Santos.

Garakani came to K-State after spending two seasons at Middle Tennessee. She has gone 9-9 in singles matches and is 8-11 in doubles play.

Parking for Mike Goss Tennis Stadium has been updated for weekday matches prior to 5 p.m. Due to the Denison Road closure, spectators can enter through Gate 9 on Kimball Ave., and park in lots C1 or C2 as pictured in the parking map. The Wildcats are ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the second week in a row, this time at no. 62. K-State will face the Cougars who are ranked for the first time since March 4.

In the last two roads matches in Texas, the Cats fell short to #22 Baylor (0-4) and #37 TCU (1-4). Against the Horned Frogs sophomore Maralgoo Chogsomjav claimed one singles point with a win over Isabel Pascual in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
