K-State Tennis Faces #21 Clemson in First Dual Match

Wildcats continue the spring season after competing in a hidden duel two weeks ago
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team begins the spring slate facing #21 Clemson on Friday (January 30) in Kansas City, Kan., at Homestead Country Club.
This will be the first match in program history between the Wildcats and Tigers (4-1) set for 4 p.m. CT.
The Tigers are coming off a 1-1 weekend at the ITA Kickoff in Knoxville, Tenn., defeating then-ranked #13 Pepperdine before falling to #16 Tennessee.
On January 15-17, K-State competed in the Jayhawk Invitational in Lawrence, Kan., facing Iowa State, Memphis and Kansas in singles and doubles matches. The team competed in 26 matches over three days with a 9-8 record in singles play.
Freshman Martaa Chogsomjav was successful in all of her singles matches, defeating each opponent in straight sets. She also won two of three doubles matches with partner junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav, including defeating no. 34 ranked Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Stanislava Shulzhenko from Iowa State. Maralgoo also went undefeated in her first two singles matches, including a three-set win, before going unfinished in her final match.
Sophomore Chanel Rustemova started the weekend 2-0 record, 1-1 in doubles with mid-year addition freshman Sasha Kyselova. Competing as a Wildcat for the first time, all three of Kyselova's matches went to three sets for a 1-2 record for the weekend.
