Wildcats Compete Against Wichita State in First Home Match

Will be the first of five matches at home to end the month
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team will compete in the first home match of the season on Friday (February 13) against Wichita State at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium at 3 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
K-State (1-2) will face Wichita State (7-3) the first in a five-match home stand to end February. In the last five meetings between the schools, the Wildcats lead 3-2, while 2-2 playing in Manhattan.
Last season on February 1, the Shockers were successful 6-1 over the hosting Cats. During that match junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav competed in an 8-game pro set in the no. 2 spot against Giorgia Roselli where she fell short at 6-8.
The Wildcats competed in consecutive games last week against Tulsa (February 7) and Arkansas (February 8), splitting the weekend. Securing the first win over the season, 4-2 over the Golden Hurricane, the Wildcats then could not secure enough singles wins over the Razorbacks in a 4-1 loss.
Sophomore Chanel Rustemova was successful in both matches in the no. 6 spot, including her first three-set win over Tulsa's Coral Valle at 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-1. She also went 1-1 in doubles play in the no. 3 position with her partner freshman Sasha Kyselova. Ranked #33 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) doubles, Maralgoo and freshman Martaa Chogsomjav have started the season 1-1.
