
Moore Jr. Named Big 12 Men’s Co-Athlete of the Week

The first accolade of his career, he's the second Wildcat this season since Tah Chikomba
MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State senior Gary Moore Jr. was named the Big 12 Men's Co-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday (February 18) as announced by the conference. He shares the weekly accolade with BYU's Tayvon Kitchen. The first accolade of his career, Moore Jr. becomes the second Wildcat this season to earn the honor after junior Tah Chikomba on February 4.
On February 13, Moore Jr. broke his own school record in the weight throw for a second time with a launch of 23.54m (77' 2.75") during the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. He finished runner-up in the event, while his throw was a foot and a half further than the third-place finisher.
Hailing from New Haven, Conn., he currently holds the no. 1 throw in the conference and the no. 5 spot in the NCAA. Earlier this season he won the event in consecutive meets, starting the season on January 16 breaking his previous school record at 23.14m.
On Tuesday (February 17) in the latest USTFCCCA national rankings the men's team is set at #4 with 116.40 points, just two points shy of #3 Oregon.
K-State will finish the regular season on Friday, February 20, at home with the Steve Miller Invitational at the Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track. The Big 12 Championship takes place on February 27-28 in Lubbock, Texas.
