K-State Finishes Third in Silicon Valley Showcase

MILLBRAE, Calif. – The 34th-ranked Kansas State women's golf team produced its fourth top-three finish of the year as the Wildcats placed third in the Silicon Valley Showcase after the final round on Tuesday at the par-71, 6,084-yard Green Hills Country Club.
K-State, which recorded a final-round tally of 14-over par 298, concluded the event at 26-over par 878, 17 shots behind second-place California.
"It was a pretty disappointing week, although we did finish on the podium," said head coach Stew Burke, whose team finished third in the 10-field in total birdies (39) and par-4 scoring (4.16). "We did not have five players battling to the end to count, which is where our early-season success came from. The next few weeks will be pivotal in getting the most out of our practice time and getting the lineup right for the Big 12 Championship. We will use the next few weeks to find the right combination of players heading into the postseason."
The Wildcats' four top-three finishes this season are tied for the fourth most in program history.
K-State had three players finish in the top 15, led by sophomores Kelsey Chen and Nanami Nakashima in a tie for ninth place at 5-over par 218 as both players produced their team-leading fifth top-10 finish of the year. Chen, native of Dalian, China, tied for K-State's best round of the day at 1-over par 72, rising eight spots on the leaderboard during the final round thanks in part to a bogey-free outward 9 of 1-under par.
Freshman Keen Visavapattamawan joined the sophomore duo in the top 15, finishing in 15th place at 7-over par 220. Like Chen, Visavapattamawan posted a final-round score of 72.
Another freshman, Casey Kang, tied for 24th place at 11-over par 224 following a round of 7-over par 78 on Tuesday. Senior Noa van Beek rose three spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday by posting a score of 5-over par 76. She tied for 46th place at 19-over par 232.
No. 29 Eastern Michigan erased a four-shot deficit to earn a one-shot victory over No. 50 California at 8-over par 860. The Eagles also had the top individual in Baiyok Sukterm at 3-under par 210, one shot ahead of Cal's Adora Liu.
Kansas State has over three weeks of preparation prior to competing in the 2026 Big 12 Championship, April 23 through 25, at Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas, Texas.
