MANHATTAN, Kan. – For the 15th time in Big 12 history, the Kansas State men's golf team will remain in the Sunflower State to compete against its conference brethren as the Wildcats take part in the 2026 Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate, Monday through Wednesday, at the par-70, 7,025-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The 72-hole event features two rounds of play on Monday, while one round will be contested both Tuesday and Wednesday. K-State's best finish in the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes was a pair of fourth-place showings in 2004 and 2009, which are the program's best two finishes in the Big 12 Championship.
"We are excited to get back to Prairie Dunes for the Big 12 Championship," head coach Grant Robbins said. "Being able to play at such an iconic venue in the best conference championship in college golf is certainly a great honor. It is going to be a demanding test as playing 72 holes over three days on a difficult course with unpredictable weather conditions will be a challenge, but we will be prepared. The key for us is to be ourselves and stay focused on playing the golf course one shot at a time. We know that over 72 holes there will be some adversity, but if we compete with a next-shot mentality the entire way, we will be in good shape come Wednesday."
Once again, the Big 12 is one of the nation's top men's golf conferences as three top-10 teams in sixth-ranked Oklahoma State, No. 7 Texas Tech and No. 10 Arizona State highlight nine squads in the 16-team field that reside in the top 50 of the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings. The other top-50 teams are No. 20 Arizona, No. 23 BYU, No. 34 Utah, No. 36 TCU, No. 37 Kansas and No. 48 Colorado, while the rest of the field includes Baylor, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, UCF and West Virginia.
The Wildcats' scoring lineup will consist of seniors Alex Lindstrom, Shea Harmeson and JP Roller as well as freshmen Oliver Toyer and Ville Virkkala. Additionally, sophomore Fionn Dobbin will serve as the Wildcats' alternate.
Lindstrom and Harmeson lead the Wildcats with scoring averages of 72.18 and 72.92, respectively. A native of Halmstad, Sweden, Lindstrom has top-20 finishes in half of his 10 starts this season, which includes three top-10 showings that was highlighted by a victory in the Git-R-Done Invitational in September. Aside from leading the team in scoring average and top-20 finishes, Lindstrom also paces the squad with 11 under-par rounds and ranks second with 85.71% of his rounds counting toward the team score.
Harmeson, a transfer from Saginaw Valley State, has four top-20 finishes in his nine starts this season to lead the team, while he is tied for second on the squad with nine under-par rounds.
Roller is making his eighth start this season, holding a 73.85 scoring average over 20 rounds. This will be his first Big 12 Championship appearance since 2024 when he tied for 23rd place at 3-over par 291.
Virkkala holds a 73.21 scoring average this season, just ahead of Toyer's 73.36 mark as the two freshmen have competed in every event this season. A native of Espoo, Finland, Virkkala has four top-20 showings this season, highlighted by a tie for third place in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in late March. Additionally, he leads the team with 86% of his 25 rounds in the scoring lineup counting toward the team score.
Toyer, who hails from Cambridgeshire, England, has two top-20 finishes as he will be part of the scoring lineup for a ninth time this season. His best finish was a tie for eighth place at both the Git-R-Done Invitational and Michael A. Marino Classic.
A native of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Dobbin holds a 73.50 scoring average over his 28 rounds.
A shotgun start to the first 36 holes of the Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday as the Wildcats will be paired with Baylor, Iowa State and UCF. Tee times will be utilized for the final two rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Live results of the championship can be followed on SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd, while Wednesday's final round will be shown on ESPN+ with John Liddle (play by play) and Hope Barnett (analyst) on the call.
