HONOLULU, Hawaii – Kansas State opened its 11^th season of soccer on Thursday and registered a resounding 4-0 win over Seattle U., at Lower Campus Field on the University of Hawaii campus. This was the first time the Wildcats have opened a season with a neutral site match.

K-State's four goals tied the school record for goals in a season-opener, as the Wildcats opened the 2023 season with a 4-1 win at Green Bay.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 12^th minute, K-State tallied its first goal of the 2026 season as McKinnan Braswell finished a diving header on a cross from Rilyn Rintoul. This was Braswell's third career goal and second at K-State. The goal would be the eventual game-winner and would be the first of Braswell's career.
- Junior goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing made a pair of saves over the next seven minutes to keep the Wildcats in front.
- K-State added to its first half lead in the 23^rd minute, as Rintoul hammered home her own rebound. Rintoul attempted a low shot but was initially stopped by Seattle goalkeeper Kassidy Kirgan. The ball caromed back to Rintoul and she finished into the open frame for the 2-0 lead.
- Dating back to the 2025 season finale on October 30 against Iowa State, Rintoul has now tallied two straight matches with a goal and an assist.
- Of its school record 23 goals last season, the Wildcats scored seven in the first half. The last time K-State had a 2-0 lead at halftime was Sept. 11, 2025, against Colorado College.
- In the 66^th minute, the Wildcats received an insurance tally from freshman Lauren Moylan. Moylan, who started in her collegiate debut, finished her shot into the top right corner with her left foot.
- Just seven minutes later in the 73^rd minute, freshman Kennedy Miller deflected in a rebound in front of frame to up the K-State lead to 4-0.
- For the afternoon, K-State tallied a 14-9 advantage in total shots, including an 8-3 margin in shots on goal.
- Sibbing played 82 minutes before giving way to sophomore goalkeeper Grace Pilling for her collegiate debut. Sibbing earned the win, while the shutout is credited as a team shutout.

- Head Coach Colleen Corbin is 30-30-17 (.50) in her five career seasons as a head coach. She owns an 8-6-5 mark in her two seasons at K-State.
- K-State is 4-6-1 all-time in season-openers, including wins in three of its last four openers.
- The Wildcats are 19-12-6 in its history in matches played in the month of August, including an current winning streak of six straight in the month of August dating back to the last match in August of 2024.
- This was the first meeting in the series between K-State and Seattle U.
- The Wildcats are 1-1-0 all-time in matches against current members of the West Coast Conference.

- K-State held a 2-0 lead at halftime on Thursday. In its history, the Wildcats are 27-8-3 when leading at halftime, including a 4-0-1 mark under Corbin's direction.
- When scoring first, the Wildcats own an all-time record of 42-15-5, including a 7-2-1 record during Corbin's tenure.
- K-State held the advantage in total shots. When doing so, the Wildcats are 34-21-11 in its history, including an 8-3-4 record under Corbin.

PLAYER NOTES
- With her goal, Rintoul moved into a tie for ninth in program history for career goals with five.
- Freshman defender Lauren Moylan was in the starting 11 in her first collegiate appearance. She registered 76 minutes of action and her first career goal.
- Sophomore forward Gabby DeMers made her first career appearance in the starting 11. She saw action in 14 matches last season.
- Senior defender Reece Walrod made her 42nd consecutive start. This was her 43^rd career start and her 52^nd career match played.
- Walrod notched 90 minutes of action. With her 90 minutes on Thursday, Walrod improved her career minutes played total to 3,873 and ranks ninth in program history. She has played the full 90 minutes in 20 consecutive matches and 25 of her last 26 matches.
- Rintoul, senior defender Lily Hendrickson, senior midfielder McKinnan Braswell and junior goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing each made their 19^th straight starts at K-State.
- Sophomore defender Chloe Dillbeck started her 13^th consecutive match.
- Sophomore midfielder Langley Mayers returned to the starting lineup after missing the entirety of the 2025 season due to injury. This was her 10^th career start and first since October 20, 2024 at Arizona.
- In addition to Moylan making her collegiate debut, sophomore goalkeeper Grace Pilling, redshirt freshman Sydney Coffman, freshman Emma Torres-Brache and freshman Kennedy Miller each made their collegiate debuts off the bench.

On the energy boost from the early goal…
"We were so excited to get the go ahead goal early and start the game on the front foot. It's something we have been focused on and addressing as a team, so that was really fun and encouraging. McKinnan's (Braswell) individual effort with the diving header to put the ball in the back of the net off a special service from Rilyn (Rintoul) made it all the more exciting."

On Maddie Sibbing's three saves between K-State two first half goals…
"Maddie (Sibbing) was awesome. Her decision-making, coming out and cleaning up behind the back line today was huge for us. She's able to bring a sense of calm and confidence when things start to feel sketchy and she did a really great job managing the game today."

On Rilyn Rintoul's 3-point night…
"Rilyn (Rintoul) was super mobile and dynamic today and caused their backline to have to respect her movement and her actions. She has been really intentional in training and competing at a high level, so we are very excited for her to be rewarded for the work she's been putting in. I know Rilyn has big goals for herself this year and we're excited for her continued impact moving forward."

On importance of scoring the third goal in the second half…
"The third goal was incredibly valuable for the success of the team today. Seattle had started to generate some momentum coming out of halftime and the team was able to respond in a really positive way and push the energy back into our favor. Very proud of the team for coming together and finding ways to continuously put pressure on Seattle's backline and find the back of the net in the second half."

On Lauren Moylan and Kennedy Miller each scoring their first career goals…
"I am so happy for both Lauren (Moylan) and Kennedy (Miller). They showed up to preseason fit, strong and ready to compete and have done a phenomenal job jumping right in and figuring out how to be impactful within the group. We are really excited about their future at K-State and look forward to their continued growth and positive impact this year."
