FROM THE CATS
JASON MANSFIELD, K-STATE HEAD COACH
Overall statement…
"Really proud of our effort today. I thought we played with real fire and grit on the road, and I love seeing that. TCU has two elite outside hitters who are difficult to slow down, and we needed to do a little better job of containing them."
On Maue and Derrer's offensive performance…
"Sydney [Maue] and Ellah [Derrer] have been working really hard to take aggressive swings and be more assertive offensively. They both want to become a bigger part of our offense, and today they provided much more balance for us. It was a great example of what they're capable of and the impact they can have."
On Brady's second career double-double…
"Skylar [Brady] was aggressive today and that's who she needs to be. She has an elite arm and has the ability to defend at a high level as an off blocker or in the backrow. I'm not surprised at all with her double-double today, and I'm proud of the way she continues to work on her game throughout the week."
On Sekita's leadership on defense and as a passer…
"Fuka has been a rock for us. The consistency she brings to her training, her focus every day, her ability to lead by example, and the positivity she brings to her teammates are all inspiring. She did a great job today of taking a lot of court in serve-receive and being aggressive when given the opportunity. I thought our entire passing unit really battled today, and it's exciting to see that group continuing to improve."
