K-State Begins Spring Slate at The Prestige
Feb 13, 2026 | Men's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Coming off a fall in which it recorded four top-five finishes, the Kansas State men's golf team opens its spring schedule by competing in The Prestige, Monday through Wednesday, at the par-71, 7,129-yard Greg Norman Course of PGA WEST in La Quinta, California.
This will be the third-straight season the Wildcats will compete at The Western Home of Golf, tying for fifth place out of 24 teams in 2024 before a sixth-place showing a year ago.
"We are really looking forward to opening the spring at The Prestige," head coach Grant Robbins said. "It is a great tournament, and the golf course is really good as it presents a challenge from tee to green. This is a course where you have to play smart and can penalize yourself if you are not patient. We have had a good couple of weeks of practice, and I know the guys are excited to be competing again. As always, it is a very strong and deep field, which provides a great opportunity for us."
K-State will be joined at PGA WEST by nine teams ranked in the top 50 of the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings in No. 16 Texas Tech, No. 25 Wake Forest, No. 28 Stanford, No. 34 Clemson, No. 44 Little Rock, No. 45 Northwestern, No. 46 Colorado, No. 47 Kansas and No. 48 San Diego. The rest of the field includes Colorado State, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Lipscomb, Nevada, North Alabama, Oregon, Oregon State, Princeton, SMU, UC Davis, UNC Wilmington, Washington State and Yale.
The Wildcats will send seven players to California in seniors Shea Harmeson, Alex Lindstrom, JP Roller and Ben Stoller, sophomore Fionn Dobbin and freshmen Oliver Toyer and Ville Virkkala. Five of those players will make up the scoring lineup – which will be decided on Saturday – while the remaining two will play in a separate individual tournament held at The Golf Club at Terra Lago.
Lindstrom, Virkkala and Harmeson lead the team in scoring average as each are under 73.00, including a team-leading 72.36 mark by Lindstrom. A native of Halmstad, Sweden, Lindstrom has produced two top-10 finishes this season, highlighted by a victory in the Git-R-Done Invitational when he carded a 13-under par 200 to rank fifth in school history.
Virkkala, a product of Espoo, Finland, was solid in his five fall outings by producing a 72.79 scoring average and three top-20 finishes, with his best finish coming at the Wildcat Invitational when he tied for eighth place. Harmeson is right behind him with a 72.93 scoring average and two top-10 finishes, which includes a tie for second place in the Wildcat Invitational.
Toyer and Dobbin are the other two Wildcats that played in each of the first five events of the season. A product of Cambridgeshire, England, Toyer holds a 73.50 scoring average, while Dobbin, a native of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, is at 73.93.
Roller is making his third appearance this season, while Stoller is making his second.
Kansas State will be part of the morning wave off the first tee on Monday to begin first-round play of The Prestige, while the Wildcats will begin play in the afternoon off the 10th tee for Tuesday's second round. Tee times for Wednesday's final round will be based on results through 36 holes.
