K-State Competes in Day Two of Drake Relays

The Wildcats competed in multiple relays with strong individual performances on the track
DES MOINES, Iowa – The K-State track and field teams competed in the first full day of the Drake Relays on Friday (April 24) at Drake Stadium. The Wildcats competed in the university division while some athletes qualified for the championship division in some field events.
The Cats competed in multiple relays, including the men's 4x100 relay team qualifying for the final race on Saturday after finishing in 40.12 seconds as runner-up. The relay included sophomore Uroy Ryan, freshman Jack Guthridge, junior Nen Matlock and junior Tah Chikomba.
Both teams finished top-5 in the 4x800 relay, the men claimed 4th place with a time of 7:26.41 with freshmen Vance Krudwig and Dylan Plath, senior Julian Avila and sophomore Jackson Steger. The women finished in 5th place in 8:45.10 with freshmen Anna Pozdeeva, Delaney Brinker and Emma Baum and junior Angi Pondler.
Four distance runners ran in the women's 4x1600 relay for the first time in 20:11.17 with senior Cecilia Fisher, freshman Bree Allen, junior Paige Baker and freshman Hanna Keltner.
Two Wildcats won their events on the track, senior Jourdin Edwards in the women's 400-meter hurdles in 58.15 seconds and junior Tavon Underwood in the men's 400 meters in 46.07 seconds.
Running in his first 10k as a sophomore, Brock Olsen finished 4th overall with a time of 29:59.85, now the no. 9 fastest time in the K-State records.
Senior Kayla Goodwin competed in two field events, the triple jump championship division as runner-up with a distance of 12.67m (47' 8") and in the long jump university event at 5th place with a jump of 5.81m (19' 0.75").
Wrapping up the Drake Relays on Saturday (April 25) the Wildcats will start the day in the men's long jump university/college division at 11 a.m. The Cats will get on the track starting at 11:55 a.m. in the women's 100-meter shuttle hurdle relays.
