
Wildcats Set for Second Oregon Team Invitational

K-State continues to improve in the second meet of the season
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams are back on the road for the second outdoor meet of the season in the Oregon Team Invitational on Friday-Saturday (April 17-18) at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Other competing teams include Big 12 familiars Oklahoma State and Utah, the hosting Ducks, Oregon State, Wichita State and Weber State. This is the second consecutive year the Wildcats have competed in the team invitational.
Friday's events will commence at 5:10 p.m., CT with the men's long jump invite, the men's open 4x100 relay will start at 7:23 p.m., CT. On Saturday the men's hammer throw invite will start at 5:45 p.m., CT, the women's 4x100 relay invite beginning at 7:32 p.m., CT. Day one and field events on day two can be streamed on B1G+.
In the first meet of the season in the Stanford Invitational on April 3-4 in Stanford, Calif., junior Riley Marx already broke the school record in the javelin with a launch of 74.24m (243' 7"), leading the conference and currently no. 8 in the NCAA.
Top times on the track came from the jumpers as multiple men and women competed in the 100-meter dash and 4x100 relays, including junior Tah Chikomba now holding the no. 6 fastest K-State time in the 100 dash in 10.33 seconds. Senior Vanessa Mercera competed in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.38 seconds, the no. 6 fastest time in the school top-10.
