Incoming Transfer Octavio Laurent Wins NCAA Division II National Championship

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Incoming Kansas State men's golf transfer Octavio Laurent, a freshman this past season at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, captured the NCAA Division II Individual National Championship this past week at the par -72, 7,595-yard Boulder Creek GC.
A native of Bordeaux, France, Laurent posted a 54-hole score of 17-under par 199 to win the championship by four strokes. He recorded a bogey-free final round of 9-under par 63, which included a 5-under par back 9 with birdies on Nos. 10, 13, 15, 16 and 17. Additionally, after a bogey on No. 14 in the first round, Laurent only had one more bogey over his final 40 holes of the championship.
Laurent led the 115-man field with 22 birdies over the three rounds, while he tied for first by going a collective 6-under par on the par 4s and 2-under par on the par 3s.
The Division II National Championship capped an outstanding season by Laurent, who earned Peach Belt Conference Co-Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. He was also named the 2026 NCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award winner and picked up NCAA Division II PING First Team All-America honors.
The fourth-ranked player in Division II in the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings, Laurent recorded four other top-five finishes this season, including a runner-up performance at the Bobcat Invitational in March and a fourth-place finish in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional. He recorded a 71.23 scoring average over 35 rounds during his freshman campaign.
Laurent joins a five-man signing class for the Wildcats this upcoming season along with freshmen Peyton Smith (Lee's Summit, Missouri), Oscar Stendahl (Myggenäs, Sweden) and Joshua Thompson (Surrey, England) as well as community-college transfer Jules De Brauwere (Saint Cloud, France) from Odessa College.
