Preview // K-State Ends Non-Conference Play vs. ULM Sunday
Dec 26, 2025 | Men's Basketball
The Wildcats and Warhawks are meeting for the first time on the hardwood.
MANHATTAN, Kan. - K-State (8-4) concludes non-conference play on Sunday afternoon, as the Wildcats host first-time opponent ULM (3-10) at Bramlage Coliseum. Tip is set for 1:01 p.m., CT and will air on ESPN+. K-State is 21-5 all-time vs. current members of the Sun Belt, including 14-2 at home.
This will also be the last game of 2025, as K-State hosts No. 10/10 BYU (12-1) in the Big 12 opener on Saturday, Jan. 3 before a road swing to No. 1/2 Arizona (11-0) and Arizona State (9-4).
The Wildcats are looking to finish non-conference play with a fourth straight win, while pushing their record to 9-4, which would be the third-best non-conference mark by the school in the past 7 seasons. A win would ensure only the 2022-23 (12-1) and the 2023-24 (10-3) teams have finished with a better record in non-conference record since the 2019-20 season.
Led by first-year coach Phil Cunningham, ULM (3-10) has lost 3 in a row, including a double-overtime heartbreaker to South Alabama in the Sun Belt opener. The Warhawks are 0-7 on the road this season, including 0-6 in true road games with power conference losses at Ole Miss and Miami (Fla.). Junior transfer MJ Russell leads four players in double figures at 17.1 points per game, while teammate Lavell Brodnex (13.4 ppg., 9.8 rpg.) averages a near double-double.
Despite this being the first-ever meeting, the schools do have a connection in Franklin Miskelly, who spent 2 seasons (2023-25) with the Wildcats as director of video and analytics and is currently an assistant coach with the Warhawks.
K-State will be looking to continue its strong play at home, as the Wildcats are 45-11 at Bramlage Coliseum under head coach Jerome Tang, including 23-4 in non-conference play.

The team also had 56 points in the paint against Cal earlier this season as well as against South Dakota in 2010 and Miami in 2023. The team also dished out 23 assists, including 5 each from junior Abdi Bashir Jr. and sophomore David Castillo, and posted a 44-28 advantage on the glass.
Haggerty posted his eighth game of 20 or more points this season, leading the way with 24 points on 10-of-12 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws to go with a game-high 6 rebounds and 3 assists in just over 26 minutes. SERIES HISTORY
This is the first meeting between K-State and ULM.
K-State is 21-5 all-time vs. current members of the Sun Belt, including a 14-2 mark in games played at home.
SUCCESS IN NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
K-State has posted a 196-66 (.752) record in non-conference play since the 2006-07 season. During that span, the Wildcats have a 152-20 (.890) mark at home venues (includes games played at Bramlage Coliseum, INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita and the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City) in non-conference play, including a 136-16 (.903) mark at Bramlage Coliseum.
K-State's 12-1 non-conference mark in 2022-23 was the best since the 2009-10 team went a program-best 13-1. A win over ULM on Dec. 28 would give the Wildcats their third-best non-conference record (9-4) in the past 7 seasons.
