
K-State Begins NCAA Indoor Championship in Fayetteville

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Sixteen Wildcats are prepped to represent the K-State track and field teams at the NCAA Indoor Championship on Friday-Saturday (March 13-14) in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Both days can be streamed on ESPN+, with designated morning and afternoon streams.
Events start on Friday at 11 a.m. CT, with the men's heptathlon 60-meter dash. The first field event begins at 4 p.m. with the men's weight throw, the track events start at 5:05 p.m. in the women's mile semifinals.
Nine men qualified, including seven jumpers, with three men in the triple jump, Aaron Antoine, Trevon Hamer and Selva Prabhu, as well as two men in both the long jump, Tah Chikomba and Uroy Ryan, and the high jump, Alan Hanna and Devin Loudermilk as well as throwers Kade McCall and Gary Moore Jr. in the weight throw. With the nine men, K-State is tied for fifth among all competing schools for the most qualifiers.
The seven women to qualify include five jumpers, Sharie Enoe in the high jump, Chisom Nwafor and Maud Zeffou-Poaty in the long jump, Destini Smith and Daniela Wamokpego in the triple jump and Monique Hardy in the weight throw and a lone multi athlete in Vanessa Mercera competing in the pentathlon.
The Wildcats are coming off the Big 12 Championship on February 27-28 in Lubbock, Texas, where the men were named runners-up with 124 points, the women in 4th place with 78.5 points. Combined, the men's and women's teams claimed six titles, including the men's 4x400 relay.
This is the second trip to Indoor NCAA Championships for Enoe and Hardy as Wildcats, while Loudermilk, Ryan and Wamokpego previously competed for different schools.
Last season, Enoe was the lone Wildcat to compete at indoor nationals as she tied for 8th place for First Team All-America honors at a clearance of 1.85m. This season as a senior, she finished runner-up at Big 12s with a new personal best clearance by two inches at 1.93m (6' 4").
In 2024, Hardy was named a Second Team All-American in 11th place with a throw of 21.19m. This season as a senior, she was crowned the Big 12 Champion with a throw of 21.89m and performed her seasons best at the Steve Miller Invitational on February 20 at 22.12m (72' 7"), just a quarter of an inch from her career best.
Competing in 2023 and 2024, Loudermilk finished 3rd both times for First Team All-America honors at a clearance of 2.21m while at Kansas. This season as a senior, he has surpassed that height twice, including during his Big 12 Championship title at 2.25m (7' 4.5").
Back at a familiar track after spending last year at Arkansas, Ryan finished 5th last season for First Team All-America honors at 7.86m. This season as a sophomore, he was crowned the Big 12 Champion with a new personal best distance of 7.90m (25' 11").
Wamokpego made consecutive trips in 2024 and 2025 with Iowa, her best finish last season at 11th place with a jump of 13.03m. This season as a junior, she jumped her seasons best in consecutive meets, including finishing 3rd during conference at 13.59m (44' 7").
As a fifth-year senior, McCall is making his first appearance at indoor nationals in the weight throw. He was also crowned a Big 12 Conference champion for the first time in this event, matching his personal best throw of 22.63m (74' 3").
Zeffou-Poaty is making her first nationals appearance after being crowned the triple jump champion at conference as a junior with a personal best mark of 6.62m (21' 8.75").
After holding the collegiate lead in the pentathlon for multiple weeks, Mercera, a senior, looks to compete in the pentathlon again after her performance of 4,429 points at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational on January 30.
School record holder in the weight throw, senior Moore Jr., looks to bounce back after the conference meet, looking to improve on his current best at 23.54m (77' 2.75").
Hamer, in the triple jump, and Chikomba, in the long jump, will both compete in their first NCAA championship, previously at NJCAA schools for two years, Barton County and Meridian.
Antoine is making his mark in the triple jump, competing at nationals after specializing in the event just this season as a junior and finishing 3rd at conference. Prabhu looks to earn another All-America honor after last outdoor season as a freshman, coming off his runner-up finish at Big 12s.
Three freshman, Hanna, Nwafor and Smith will all compete in the Championship during their first season. Hanna jumped a qualifying mark in the high jump during the first meet of the season at 2.25m (7' 4.5") during the Thane Baker Invitational on January 16.
Nwafor jumped a significant personal best in the long jump during the Big 12 Championship at 6.51m (21' 4.25") with a 3rd place finish. Smith also had a personal best at the conference championship, at 13.33m (43' 8.75") in the triple jump for 5th place.
In the week seven USTFCCCA rankings released on Tuesday (March 10) the men still clock in at #5 with 107.74 points, still leading the conference, the women advanced one spot at #9 with 76.05 points.
On Saturday, the men's heptathlon will wrap up starting at 11 a.m. CT, with the 60-meter hurdles. The men's shot put will start the field events at 1 p.m., the women's mile final starting at 4:10 p.m.
