K-State (7-12, 2-9 Big 12) swept the Cougars in the first match (1-22, 1-4 NEC) in both doubles and singles for a 7-0 victory. The second match the two teams only competed in singles matches for a 4-1 win.
Junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav and freshman Martaa Chogsomjav, ranked #89 as a duo, won their first match together since March 20 against Baylor, fighting off Mackenzie King and Karolina Skowronska in the no. 1 spot, 6-4. Freshman Sasha Kyselova and sophomore Chanel Rustemova made quick work over Nikita Liyanage and Camilla Sanchez with a dominating 6-1 win in the no. 2 position.
Playing for the first time since the first weekend of the spring, freshmen Addison Renfro and Mallory Renfro faced Danina Hughes and Nadjema Morille in the no. 3 spot, going unfinished at 3-4.
In the no. 1 position, in her only match of the day, Maralgoo encountered a bit of resistance from Skowronska in the first set but dominated in a scoreless second set at 6-4, 6-0.
Kyselova and Rustemova also left their opponents scoreless in at least one set. Rustemova blanked King in the no. 3 spot 6-0, 6-0, her best court so far this season, while Kyselova, playing in the no. 2 position again for the first time since the start of the spring, swept Sanchez in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
The last three matches of the first match were competed in 8-game pro sets to clinch the match at 7-0. Addison Renfro played for the first time, previously winning a forfeit over Oklahoma State on March 14, finding success in the no. 6 spot versus Morille at 8-4.
Only singles matches were contested in the second match against Chicago State as three Wildcats went 2-0 on the day. Smolinska quickly claimed the first win over King at 6-0, 6-1 in the no. 3 position. Bernovich was the only Wildcat to face the same opponent again, versus Hughes in the no. 5 spot she found success at 6-0, 6-2.

Martaa competed in singles this match, facing Sanchez in the no. 2 spot where she had to battle a little bit to start before leaving her opponent scoreless in the second set at 6-3, 6-0.
Kyselova had a tough battle against Skowronska playing in the no. 1 position encountering a tiebreaker leading to three-sets. Trading points back and forth, the two fought to a tiebreaker where Kyselova led at 4-0 before falling short at 6-7 (4-7). In the second set she battled back for another high scoring set with a 7-5 win before Kyselova started to lose steam in the third and final set as she faltered at 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 2-6.
The second match was clinched at 4-1 before Mallory Renfro was able to start her match in the no. 6 spot against Morille.

FROM THE COURTS
Head Coach Jordan Smith
On being able to get back in the win column at home…
"Really happy to kind of get back on track and work on some things with our team today. You know, it's been a long season on the road with our travels, so it's good to be back home for the first time in almost three weeks. But I think the most comfortable thing is all the challenges we face up until now made us feel better about what we're doing on the court and what we're trying to get back to for this weekend."
On finishing out the conference schedule at home…
"It definitely should empower our girls to feel good about themselves and know that there's no holding back when it comes to the regular season finale. And so anything that we're looking to do, it has to happen now. And I think that's one thing that we've always tried to encourage them to have a sense of urgency. And hopefully now they do see it and like, hey, we don't have any regrets moving forward."
